Tonight’s Ferguson Commission meeting focused on income inequality in the St. Louis region. Our own Statewide Director Lara Granich spoke, as well as several low wage workers from Show Me 15. Lara’s presentation focused on the growth of low wage jobs such as Fast Food, Homecare work, and restaurant industry jobs. This work isn’t going away – in fact these jobs are growing faster than many others. These jobs need to pay a living wage, not poverty wages. Our brave brothers and sisters in the Fast Food Movement were courageous enough to share their experience living on poverty wages in our region with a room full of strangers and in front of entire Ferguson Commission.
