Throughout the summer, SEIU Local 1 called on Missouri Jobs with Justice for solidarity to help deliver a series of janitorial contracts in Kansas City. After weeks of public pressure and community support, SEIU Local 1 janitors voted unanimously to ratify the best contract they’ve ever had!
Covering more than 900 workers, they won the largest raises ever for KC janitors, expanded paid holiday and sick days, and strengthened access to their union so they can continue growing the labor movement. This was possible with new organizing staff hungry to step into the work, members sharing a bold vision, and folks living into our Be There Pledge. When SEIU calls on us to stand with them, we’ll be on the front lines to support their next set of victories.
